WHO AM I?

A complex problem-solver, shoot-for-the-stars optimist, and a heck of a designer!

My name is Lulu West, and I am a second-year graduate student at the University of Oregon’s Sports Product Design Master’s of Science program. I specialize in designing striking apparel and footwear solutions for the complex problems of the modern athlete.

It is my belief that sport is for every body - regardless of ability, gender, or size. In my work, I focus on breaking down barriers to create a more inclusive athletic community through my specializations in underfoot technologies, compression therapeutics, and modular design. By combining my knowledge and experience in biomechanics and rehabilitative sciences with my design skills, I am a unique jack-of-all-trades that can tackle any design problem from any angle.

MY BACKGROUND

I was born and raised in the Southeast United States of America, having lived most of my life in the Florida Panhandle and Central Alabama regions. My love of sports comes from my experience of over 10 years as a national-level swimmer and water polo athlete, and I continue my love of sport to this day with yoga, weightlifting, hiking, and badminton!

  • I currently live in the Portland metro area, and am open to both remote work and in-person or hybrid roles in the Pacific Northwest USA.

  • Coming from a research-heavy, technical engineering education I bring a level of precision and attention to detail that goes above and beyond in creative design. I ensure a product no only appeals aesthetically to an athlete, but also exceeds all performance expectations.

  • I love solving complex design problems, so I prefer to work in innovation designer roles, in an apparel or footwear team for performance sport and run/train.
