My 3-week Convertible Equipment project from our Year 2 equipment studio course.

This project was to create a convertible outdoor equipment product that combines two different activity/sport spaces. I chose to combine Emergency Services/Rescue with Casual Day hiking, and focused on the scenario of inexperienced hikers in a flash flooding scenario. The end product, a 20L dry pack that converts into a single-person inflatable rescue raft, was prototyped and tested with experienced outdoors people to inform future design iterations. This project pushed to invent a never-before seen product and gather real-time user feedback to inform the prototyping process.
