My 2-week Quilting project from our Year 1 apparel studio course.
This project was to create a Winter Olympics opening ceremony outerwear piece for our assigned country. In this piece, we were to push the boundaries of aesthetics while maintaining some form of heating for the athletes. My pride in this piece was creating a hanten pattern from scratch to honor Japan’s rich traditions, while pushing the boundaries of the silhouette towards futuristic proportions to show Japan’s position as a frontier in fashion and technology. We also for fun got to design a trading pin to represent our country, as a way to test our 3D printing knowledge at smaller scales.
